“I’m still enjoying coming to work. I’m not dreading practice,” Kelce said. “I’m just having so much fun and just so appreciative and so fortunate that I’ve been able to come into year 12 and still have this energy and this love and the ability to get to work.”
Kelce is back for his 12th season in the NFL and the Chiefs are eying their third consecutive Super Bowl title and the tight end has reached a new level of fame that has gone beyond the football field.
Kelce has been dating pop icon Taylor Swift and the couple went public with their relationship in September when Swift first appeared at Arrowhead Stadium to see the Chiefs star face the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24, 2023.
The tight end made 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns in a year he was selected to the Pro Bowl.
“I think the excitement of the challenge of this year, being able to maybe do it a third time in a row — I think that alone was all I needed. That was an instant thought, so there was really not a chance in hell that I wasn’t coming back this year,” Kelce said.
Kelce called the opportunity to go for a three-peat with the Chiefs a “once in a lifetime” chance.
The potential three-peat would be the first time in NFL history that a team won three straight championships.
The Chiefs begin their title defense on Thursday when they face the Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium.
