Former Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert has revealed she and her husband Kian Egan suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage at nine weeks pregnant.

Jodi, 38, took to Instagram on Thursday to speak out about the ‘painful loss’ after one fan had told her that she looked pregnant in a recent photo.

Alongside a gorgeous photo of the couple on holiday, the 38-year-old said her miscarriage was her second in four years.

She wrote: ‘I posted a similar pic to this on Valentine’s Day.. one person commented and said she looks pregnant.. on any other occasion I might have been offended but on this occasion I thought.. ooh she guessed it right, I am and I cannot wait to get to 12 weeks to share our happy news!!!

‘But sadly we lost our little one at 9weeks pregnant .. this is my second miscarriage although 3 1/2 years apart…this one hit differently because we allowed ourselves to get excited and dream about what the future would look like with a new beautiful little blessing to add to our family.’

Heartbreaking: The star took to Instagram to share with her followers about the 'painful loss' that the couple recently experienced

 ‘I have written out this post and deleted it so many times as my biggest fear has been having to tell people but I know that by talking or posting about it, it can be so helpful for anyone going through this painful loss.

She went on: ‘The silence after the D&C procedure is deafening because you are left with so many thoughts and questions that can sometimes never be answered.

‘I think it’s part of a positive healing process or maybe it’s just for me to remember that it was real and that little baby did exist and was loved so much.’

She finished by praising her husband Kian, adding: ‘To my husband who has just been my rock..you are the most amazing man..

‘I love you and our boys so much and am so grateful for what I already have.’

Withing minutes, Jodi’s followers flocked to her page and thanked her for sharing her moving story with many opening up about their own heartbreaking stories.

One replied: ‘Sending big hugs your way. I have had 7 miscarriage getting to near 14 weeks the longest. It hurts big time feel what if and get the excitement. Know they are with me always.’

Another wrote back: ‘Thank you for speaking out, for yourself & for all women who go through this lonely, heartbreaking experience. I hope you are healing.’

While another supportive follower said: ‘I’m so sorry for your loss. When I read the first lines, I was so happy for you and Kian. And then it became so sad. Thank you for sharing even the worst moments with us.

‘It makes you so authentic and shows what a strong woman you are, Jodi.

‘You are a wonderful family, a wonderful couple and you have 3 amazing boys. Take the time you need to get through the pain. Thinking of you 2 and sending you all my love.’

The couple met when the Irish singer began to co-manage Jodi’s girl-group Wonderland alongside X Factor’s Louis Walsh in the early noughties and they went on to get married in Barbados in 2009.

They share three sons together- Koa, 10, Zekey, six, and Cobi, four and reside in a stunning home in Kian’s native Sligo on the west coast of Ireland.
