Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been the subject of reports of marital discord for well over a year, even though they tied the knot in 2022. There have been various allegations that J.Lo has a problem with Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner, which makes the new rumors that Affleck and Garner may team up on a new project all the more absurd.

Affleck and Garner are reportedly in discussions to collaborate on his forthcoming film endeavor. Garner, 51, who was married to Affleck, 51, for over a decade, is currently in negotiations to co-star alongside Matt Damon in the Netflix crime thriller titled Animals, which Affleck is set to direct.

The news of Garner’s potential involvement surfaced last Friday, shortly after Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez shared the screen in a highly successful Super Bowl commercial.

Crafted by screenwriters Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, Animals is poised to narrate the tale of a politician and his spouse who find themselves pushing their morals in a bid to rescue their abducted son. Damon is slated to portray the politician, while Garner is being considered for the role of his wife.

Beyond their on-screen collaboration, Damon and Affleck will serve as producers for the film under their studio Artists Equity. Alongside them, Dani Bernfeld of Artists Equity, as well as MakeReady’s Brad Weston and Collin Creighton, are set to contribute to the production. Filming for Animals is slated to commence in March.

Jennifer Garner is a Hollywood icon, and while she isn’t known for blowing out the box office, she has her fair share of movies that have.

Affleck and Garner were married for a total of 13 years, from 2005 to 2018. Before and throughout their marriage, they collaborated on-screen in the film Daredevil, released in 2003, which is where they first met and developed their relationship. Additionally, they worked together on the movie Elektra, a spin-off from “Daredevil,” released in 2005.

Affleck and Garner have three children together: their eldest daughter, Violet Anne, was born in 2005, followed by their second daughter, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, born in 2009, and their son, Samuel Garner, born in 2012.

While Affleck and Garner have previously worked together on screen, this project would mark the first instance of the two-time Oscar winner directing his former spouse in a cinematic endeavor. It would also be the first time they’ve worked on a movie together since their divorce.

There’s been no word on how Jennifer Lopez would feel about Garner joining Animals. But the singer has allegedly had an issue with Affleck’s ex for a while, especially given how close they remain due to co-parenting. Images that surfaced last fall showing Garner and Affleck hugging reportedly bothered Lopez, pushing her to suggest couple’s counseling to improve their marriage.

Even more telling, Lopez recently gave a warning to women in general not to flirt with her husband. “Don’t play with me. Do not play with me,” she said on Today. “First of all, I’m a lover, not a fighter, but I will let them know in a very elegant and lady-like way to step all the way off.”

Lopez and Affleck have also collaborated onscreen together in the past.
