The trio, dubbed the “DunKings,” all come together to celebrate Boston’s favorite coffee brand for the Super Bowl 2024 commercial
Introducing, the DunKings.
Ben Affleck enlisted his longtime friend and fellow Bostonian, Matt Damon, plus New England sports legend Tom Brady, to form the ultimate boy band in Dunkin’s Super Bowl commercial.
In the vibrant ad, the trio all come together to celebrate Boston’s favorite coffee brand — and crash Jennifer Lopez’s recording session in the process.
During a teaser for the ad that aired during the Grammys, fans could see Affleck’s journey to becoming a “popstar” with the help of Charli D’Amelio. Now, in the big game day commercial, viewers watch his hard work come to fruition as he forms a musical group (the DunKings!) with Damon and Brady.
At the start of the video, Lopez appears in a recording studio with rapper Fat Joe, drinking from a sparkly Dunkin’ cup.
The scene cuts to Jack Harlow telling Affleck in a car, “I don’t think you should do this.” (Leading up to the main ad, Dunkin’ shared a teaser that featured Harlow serving as Affleck’s “voice of reason.”) Referencing last year’s Dunkin’ Super Bowl Commercial — which saw Lopez ordering from Affleck at the drive-thru — Affleck tells Harlow, “Last year, she came to my work. Now, I got to show her what I can do.”
Cut back to the music studio, an assistant whispers in Lopez’s ear, “He’s here.” Lopez looks concerned, “No.” Affleck storms into the recording studio, wearing a “DunKings” tracksuit complete with the brand’s signature pink and orange colors.
“What up! For your consideration, here comes the Boston Massacre. The DunKings!” he says, announcing the name of the band.
As Lopez hides her face in embarrassment, Brady and Damon are revealed to be the other DunKings band members.
“Touchdown Tommy on the keys!” Ben says, giving Brady a fist bump. “You got it,” Brady adds.
Next up is Damon’s time to shine. “Needs no introduction, my partner,” Affleck says in a thick Boston accent. Damon hilariously responds, “It’s really hard to be your friend, man.” The Air star claps back, “You said you were going to support me.”
The star-studded boy band performs the act in front of Lopez. “DunKings!” they exclaim as Affleck shows off his moves with backup dancers.
“Don’t dunk away at my heart. Why you Dunkin’ me, girl?” the lyrics ring out as Brady shares a solo, singing, “DunKings!”
In a nod to his iconic Good Will Hunting line, Damon closes out the number with a mic drop-worthy one-liner: “How do you like them…donuts.” Blushing from embarrassment, he tells Lopez, “I’m so sorry.”
“You had to see it, but I forgive you,” Affleck tells his wife, blowing a kiss.
Clearly more eager than Damon, Brady gets excited at the thought of actually pitching a deal with the “Let’s Get Loud” singer. “Are we going to be on the album?” he asks.
Jaw fully dropped, Lopez is speechless at their performance.
“We talked about this,” she scolds her husband. Damon awkwardly sips his coffee — complete with skewered Munchkin garnishes.
“Let’s go. You’re blinded by them pinstripes,” Affleck tells his Bronx native wife, referencing the New York Yankees. “Here goes Babe Ruth.”
In a shock ending, Lopez asks one member to hang back — not Affleck. “Tom? You can stay,” she says to the former Patriots quarterback.
The spot closes with Affleck and Damon walking outside. The back of their festive suits are even more visible than earlier. The Boston Red Sox font reads “Boston” on the back of Affleck’s.
“Remember when I told you I’d do anything for you?” Damon asks his longtime friend. “This is anything.”
“Chill, they’re naming a drink after us,” Affleck responds.
(Damon and Affleck’s production company Artists Equity created the Super Bowl commercial.)
On Monday, Dunkin’ is rolling out a DunKings menu nationwide, including Affleck’s own drink and the DunKings Munchkins Skewers.
Along with the exciting menu, fans can sport the silly band’s looks from the Super Bowl Commercial. On Monday at 12 p.m. ET, the DunKings tracksuits and fuzzy hats will be available to order on ShopDunkin.com.
