A 16-year-old opera singer has gone viral after being filmed beautifully singing at London Tube station with YouTube star Brendan Kavanagh.

Elicia Palmer, from Grimsby, was walking through Tottenham Court Road station with her friend on Saturday when the pair stopped to listen to Brendan playing a public piano.

The pianist, who often posts videos of himself duetting with strangers and has more than 844,000 subscribers, noticed the pair and asked whether they were musicians.

After her pal revealed that Elicia was a talented singer, Brendan urged the schoolgirl to join in, leading her to give a stunning rendition of Edelweiss from The Sound of Music, which attracted the attention of several passersby.

Elicia, who is also a trained cellist, explained: ‘It was very strange. I was just going to the shops with my friend and then we passed this guy playing the piano.

‘We thought because we’re musicians we’d listen to him and spend a bit of time there in the Tube station.

‘Then this guy asked if we were musicians, and I said I was a cellist. My friend told him I’m a singer as well, so he asked me to join him.’

The teenager confessed that she had no idea of Brendan’s online presence and says it was her mate who encouraged her to join in with the musician.

She said: ‘She pushed me into it a bit! It was crazy because I didn’t know who he was at first, I didn’t realise he was famous.

‘Everyone had their cameras out. They must’ve known who he was but I didn’t.

The singer confessed that she had no idea of Brendan’s large online presence and says it was her pal who encouraged her to join in

‘We spoke for a good half an hour after, but he still didn’t tell me who he was. I had no clue.

‘I posted a picture of us playing together and a friend texted me asking whether I knew he was famous. I had no idea.’

Elicia says it’s ‘crazy’ how much support she’s received and revealed that her another collaboration with Brendan could be on the cards.

She said: ‘It’s crazy. I’ve had a lot of messages from around the world which has been really nice.

‘People have been saying that I need to do more and they want me and Brendan to collaborate together.’
