Kim Kardashian called ‘vapid to the core’ for saying she’d get ‘robbed’ in Beverly Hills during Variety interview

KIM Kardashian has been dragged by fans for a particularly out-of-touch comment in a new high-profile interview on Wednesday.

The reality TV star joined veteran actress Chloë Sevigny for the latest cover story of Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

The full Variety cover story was released on Wednesday, June 5.

It featured Chloë, 49, and Kim, 43, interviewing each other about acting.

The glitzy, in-depth piece came with a video where the iconic actress chatted with the relative acting newcomer.

Kim is set to appear in an untitled legal drama from American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy (Chloë was in Season 2 of the anthology series).

Kim also previously starred in AHS: Delicate, but their talking shop wasn’t what offended fans.

‘SUCH A DIFFERENT TIME’

During the sit-down, Kim instead brought up watching the film Troop Beverly Hills with her mother Kris Jenner for the first time.

“Yesterday I was absolutely blown away, stopped in my tracks, couldn’t believe it, emergency family meeting at the movies – my mom had never seen Troop Beverly Hills,” Kim said.

“And we watched it, and she was crying over the fashion and all these stores that don’t exist anymore.

“And we were like, ‘Oh, we can never drive down in a Rolls-Royce in Beverly Hills these days. All the shopping bags out? You’d get robbed.’

“It was such a different time. So I love nostalgic movies,” Kim closed.

Chloë – who struck fame in the ’90s New York City indie flick Kids – could be seen awkwardly forcing a chuckle.

‘INSULTING’

Fans flooded social media where they were put off by Kim’s remark, regardless of Beverly Hills not exactly being a dangerous Los Angeles area.

“Vapid to the core,” one fan replied under Variety’s clip.

“Rich Girl Problems,” wrote another.

“Actors on Actors you say?” joked a third.

“Yeah this is the worst thing about Beverly Hills for sure…” wrote a fourth.

“The peasants for some reason don’t like big displays of excess wealth. Their loss I guess! Maybe they should’ve worked harder,” wrote a fifth, referring to Kim’s controversial past comment.

In a 2022 infamous Variety interview, the billionaire said, “I have the best advice for women in business, get your f**king a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

Other fans were offended that Chloë had to rub elbows with Kim given they are far apart in terms of acting accolades.

“I’ll never forgive y’all for doing this to Chloë,” one wrote.

“How absolutely insulting it is for Chloe and any credible actual actor in this business and beyond.”

“Poor Chloe. Why didn’t they bring in North too? Surely that Lion King Hollywood Bowl performance qualifies her for this…” one more wrote.

Kim’s joke also comes after she actually was robbed in a harrowing scenario in 2016 in Paris.

Kim did have one moment of pathos during the interview, admitting her voice is “annoying.”

“Don’t we all find our voices annoying?” she said, “But yeah, because people know you – I mean, they know the way you move, the way you talk, because you’ve been on camera for so long.”

‘CLICKBAIT’

Variety unveiled the cover for its Actors on Actors issue featuring Ryan Murphy faves Kim and Chloë on Monday.

The cover showed the unexpected pair wearing all-black outfits while posing side-by-side with their hands on their hips.

The reaction from internet users was explosive, with many thinking her inclusion on the cover was a “joke” and being used as “clickbait.”

“What an insult to the many trained, hardworking actors who DO THE REAL WORK! To say this is shameful is an understatement,” one person slammed in the comments.

“Beyond disrespectful to Chloë,” a second wrote, while a third said, “Kim K is not an actor! She doesn’t belong in this space!”

Other cover stars have included the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Tom Hiddleston, Kristen Wiig, Brie Larson, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Jodie Foster, Joey King, Naomi Watts, Quinta Brunson, and Andrew Scott.

Kim only broke into the world of script acting last year, portraying Siobhan in FX’s American Horror Story: Delicate.

Though Kim and Chloë might seem like an odd pairing for the popular interview series, they do have an interesting thread.

Chloë is set to play Kitty Menendez in Season 2 of Monster, which has been renamed Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

While fans know Kim’s connection to the OJ Simpson murder trial, which Murphy took on in Season 1 of “American Crime Story” – she also has a history with the Menendez brothers.

She revealed she went to the same school as the convicted murderers and grew up down the street from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Kim also discussed her new Hulu project with Ryan, which does not yet have a release date.

The TV star will play the role of Los Angeles’ most successful divorce lawyer, who owns an all-female law firm.

“I’m going to be playing a lawyer, a high-powered divorce attorney. I will be channeling Laura Wasser, if that resonates with anybody,” Kim told Chloe, referring to her divorce lawyer she employed for her separation from Kanye West.

The star also mentioned she isn’t giving up on her dream of becoming a lawyer just yet.

“I’m in law school. Seeing it from a legal point of view is just fascinating,” she added, referring to the project.

Chloë – who was nominated for an Oscar for Boys Don’t Cry and won a Golden Globe for HBO’s Big Love – reposted the Variety cover.

She did so with the short caption, “Always nice to be included. Thank you @variety.”
