If you were hypothetically deeply in love with someone and famously married to them, wouldn’t you want to spend their birthday with them? Okay, but what if it was on the same day as a Bruno Mars performance? Tough call, but Jennifer Lopez apparently picked the latter last night. Instead of spending Thursday evening celebrating her (maybe?) husband Ben Affleck’s 52nd birthday, Lopez attended the opening night of the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. In a pair of massive glasses and a blinged out “Jennifer” necklace, the singer giggled with Ashton Kutcher and watched Mars and Lady Gaga perform their new single.

Unfortunately, it’s not much of a shock, given that Ben was nowhere to be seen at J.Lo’s own Bridgerton-themed birthday party last month. Rumors have been swirling for months that the couple are headed for divorce, if not already there. In May, sources reported that Affleck had moved out of the couple’s home and that the marriage had actually been over since March. Since then, the duo have been playing an optics game of cat and mouse: going out, separately, with their rings off and then later with them on, spending holidays apart but sometimes with each other’s children, and even making pit stops at each other’s rental homes, leading hopeless romantics to wonder what the heck is happening here. And believe me, your guess is as good as mine.

Adding to the confusion of Bennifer stans everywhere, People reports that Lopez stopped by Affleck’s home a few days before his birthday while he was there. There’s nothing like an on-again, off-again famous couple to make you realize celebrities are just as down bad in the dating pool as the rest of us.
