After the game, Batum announced on France Télévisions that it would be his last appearance in the Les Bleus jersey.

“It was my last one with this jersey,” he said. “I spent fifteen years playing 4 World Cups, 4 EuroBaskets, and 4 Olympics. I did what I had to do: 7 medals. I’m happy.”

In the final, Batum contributed 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, as France put up a strong fight before falling to Team USA, 87-98.

Batum’s 16-year NBA career was matched by his outstanding achievements with the French national team, earning seven medals in summer tournaments.

Along with his silver medal in Paris, he secured another silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, two bronze medals in the 2014 and 2019 World Cups, and a gold medal at the 2013 EuroBasket.

He also added a silver in the 2011 EuroBasket and a bronze in the 2015 EuroBasket to his collection.
