For three months now, rumors have been swirling that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are headed for divorce after two years of marriage.

The couple — who were previously engaged in the 2000s — first sparked split speculation in early May when Affleck skipped the Met Gala despite Lopez being a co-chair of the event. By May 17, People had reported that the pair were living separately amid strain in their marriage.

A few days later, on May 19, Entertainment Tonight published reports that claimed Affleck and Lopez were “taking a second to figure out what each of them is going through and wants” amid “tension.”

Since then, Lopez has canceled her tour, which had been set to begin in June, and she and Affleck put their $60-million mansion up for sale. They did not publicly celebrate their second wedding anniversary on July 16, and when Lopez threw a party for her 55th birthday in the Hamptons on July 20, Affleck was seen on the other side of the country.

Despite all this speculation, neither Affleck nor Lopez has directly addressed the alleged divorce rumors. And now, an anonymous insider has claimed to “Entertainment Tonight” that the pair are intentionally taking their time before releasing an official split announcement.

According to the source, Affleck and Lopez are “waiting to announce their official split, because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved.”

The report continued, “Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can.”

Affleck shares three children with Jennifer Garner: Violet, Fin, and Samuel, while Lopez shares twins Max and Emme with Marc Anthony. Since tying the knot in 2022, Affleck and Lopez have blended their families under one roof, and now, the ET source claims that making “sure the kids are comfortable with the transition” is their top priority.

The reports come shortly after Affleck closed a deal on a new $20-million estate in LA, with insiders claiming he is feeling “hopeful” about the future.

As for Lopez, an anonymous insider told People this week that she’s “having a good summer” and is focused “on what’s next.”

Suggesting that she “hasn’t seen Ben for weeks,” the source added: “Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh. She always has [a] good attitude even when things are not perfect.”
