Likely first overall pick Caleb Williams reportedly made a good impression with several Chicago Bears during a team dinner.

Caleb Williams is widely expected to go first overall to the Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft, which begins on Apr. 25. Chicago holds the top pick thanks to the Carolina Panthers, who gave up their 2024 first-rounder as part of the package to move up and take Bryce Young first overall a yea ago.

According to a report from the ML Football X/Twitter account, Williams’ dinner with multiple Chicago players “went extremely well.” Several players thought Williams was “cool” and humble”, the report added.

The Bears all but confirmed that they’ll be taking Williams first overall when they traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a late-round pick. Fields had put together a career year for Chicago in 2023, but Williams’ skill set made this an easy decision for the Bears.

The bigger question is what the Washington Commanders will do with the No. 2 pick. LSU’s Jayden Daniels, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy all have a compelling case to go second overall, but it’s anybody’s guess what the final decision will be for Dan Quinn and company.

In his final season of college football, Caleb Williams completed 68.6 percent of his pass attempts for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns against only five interceptions.

Caleb Williams Is In Position To Succeed Right Away

Chicago GM Ryan Poles has wasted little time ensuring that his future franchise quarterback will be able to succeed right off the bat. He traded for former Los Angeles Chargers star wideout Keenan Allen and signed 1,000-yard rusher D’Andre Swift, who join fellow standouts D.J. Moore and Khalil Herbert.

With two perennial 1,000-yard receivers and a pair of capable 1,000-yard rushers in the backfield, the pieces are in place for Williams to dominate right off the bat.
