The Casting Director behind the 2004 rom-com The Notebook has revealed he cried when he discovered Oscar nominated actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling.
Matthew Barry appeared on Today Extra on Wednesday morning to discuss his role in casting Gosling, 43, and McAdams, 45, in the much-loved film, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
When asked about the chemistry tests, Barry said ‘you can hear me crying behind the camera. It’s just one of those moments where an actress (McAdams) just comes into my office and just says “this role is mine”.
‘It’s one of those rare moments where you go oh my gosh this is just incredible.’
Gosling brought the ‘Kenergy’ to the Oscars on Sunday when he performed nominated track ‘I’m Just Ken‘.

The casting guru joked: ‘I pulled my hamstring, I was dancing along with everybody else.’
Barry described Gosling as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood.
‘It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, Ryan Gosling is the epitome of a movie star – he’s kind, he’s generous and he’s so unbelievably talented,’ he said.
Gosling donned a sparkling pink suit as he exuded confidence onstage – accompanied by his Barbie co-stars and Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, 58.

He started off his performance wearing shades and sat in the audience alongside Barbie star Margot Robbie, 33, as she giggled.
Gosling, 43, then prowled his way to the stage where he joined a host of tuxedo clad back-up dancers.
The iconic performance saw several of the film’s other Kens – Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu and Kingsley Ben-Adir – join Ryan onstage in a pink-filled extravaganza.
Gosling lost out in the Best Supporting Actor category to Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr at the 96th Academy Awards.
