THE VIEW’s Whoopi Goldberg has shown less interest behind the scenes of the talk show during a recent taping, an insider revealed to The U.S. Sun.
Fans of The View have suspected that the longtime talk show host will soon leave her role as moderator and her co-hosts after 16 years.

While taping the Wednesday, April 17 episode, Whoopi, 68, appeared to be “tired” during the daily 11am ET show, according to an insider.
“Whoopi walked into the room with slouchy pink overalls, a white dress shirt and clog shoes.
“She was very underdressed compared to the other hosts who were wearing dresses or pencil skirts,” the insider said.
Apart from her casual work attire – which is somewhat her regular go-to – throughout the taping she came off as “uninterested” in conversations and “not in an upbeat mood compared to the others.”
“She was slouching and rested her head on her hand at times,” the insider continued.
“After she was done reading her note cards, she would rip them up into pieces and hand them to a crew member, which is something the other co-hosts weren’t doing.”
The hot topics of the day was the Donald Trump hush money trial that is currently going on at Manhattan Criminal Court in New York.
Whoopi, who is the show’s longtime moderator, began the conversation, but then let her colleagues – Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin – take over.
As seen in the live taping, the actress wasn’t as into the conversation about whether the former President’s wife, Melania Trump, should take the stand to testify about Stormy Daniels.
Following hot topics, the show aired A Different World reunion, which, according to an insider, was pre-taped and not filmed live.
The April 17 episode then wrapped with an interview with singer-songwriter Huey Lewis who was there to promote his new Broadway play, The Heart of Rock and Roll.
“She loved Huey and begged him to stay at the table to help wrap the show after he was done the interview,” the insider remarked.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to ABC for comment.
SPEAKING OUT
Whoopi previously addressed retirement rumors in an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun in October 2023.
When asked about her retirement plans, she joked, “I’ve done nothing but retire. I’ve been retired my whole career, so I kind of like that.”
As part of her deal with ABC, Whoopi works four days a week and is off on Fridays, which is when Ana Navarro joins the round table in addition to Mondays.
“I have a contract. As long as I’m doing the contract, nobody’s mad.
“But I’ve been off on Fridays for years now because when we did that normally, I’d go to work and do shows or do whatever because I could travel on a Friday,” Whoopi continued.
OTHER PLANS
Aside from The View, the TV personality is known for her movie roles and appearances on various drama shows.
She recently released her new film, Outlaw Posse, in early March.
According to her IMDB, she has multiple projects in the works including an animated musical film called Fairy Tale Forest, another animated film titled Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk, and the much-anticipated sequel Sister Act 3.
Next month, Whoopi is set to release a brand-new memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me, on May 7.
The semi-autobiographical, Blackstone Publishing book will chronicle the Hollywood star’s life, career, and family.
“This book is dedicated to my mother and my brother and our time together as a small, funny little unit. It’s dedicated to anyone who’s found themselves on a scary path not of their choosing or dealing with loss,” she told People.
“This book is dedicated to everyone who is just trying to figure out the small stuff as well as the stuff where you have to be more than you thought you could be and it’s dedicated to love.”
