NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal retired from basketball in 2011 and has spent his post-NBA career as an NBA analyst. Since the former Los Angeles Lakers star isn’t allowed on the court to show his dominance in basketball, he has chosen another way to justify his prowess, which has rewarded him a hefty gift.

On “The Big Podcast,” the former NBA star revealed that he had a bet with a rich friend in a three-point contest. Stunningly, he won the bet and got his friend’s Mercedes Maybach.

“I have never been really a gambler, but the biggest bet I had was I bet a guy one time, one of my rich friends, that I could get his Maybach if I hit a three. And if I missed the three, he could have my Cullinan,” Shaq said.

Shaq’s luck was on his side at that moment because missing the shot would have meant handing over his Rolls-Royce Cullinan to his friend.

Despite nailing the three-pointer, it’s notable that this was an area he struggled with during his NBA career. Shaq, who shared a list of athletes missing from the HOF list, was among the most dominant big men in league history. Nevertheless, he rarely attempted three-point shots throughout his NBA career.

During his nearly two-decade career in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal attempted 22 three-point shots and made just one of them.

The four-time NBA champion’s sole career three-pointer came early in his tenure with the Orlando Magic. Shaw made the rare shot during the 1995-96 season in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Overall, the Hall of Famer’s three-point shooting percentage was just 4.5 percent throughout his career. His final attempt from beyond the arc occurred during the 2010 season.
