(c) 2024 NFL Draft: Betting public believes Michael Penix Jr. will be a first-round pick

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had an unbelievable college season, leading an undefeated Washington team to a Pac-12 title and a spot in the national championship game, before falling 34-13 to Michigan.

He finished as the runner-up in the 2023 Heisman Trophy race, losing to LSU’s Jayden Daniels in the award’s closest voting since 2018. But despite all of the accolades, it is unclear whether he’ll be a first-round pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

BetMGM set the line for his draft position at over/under 32.5, meaning an under bet would have him go in Round 1 and an over bet in Round 2 or later. As of Tuesday morning, the under was juiced to -250 with 62 percent of wagers and 79 percent of the money on Penix to go under 32.5. Penix under 32.5 was the most-bet draft prop of all of BetMGM’s offerings by both total dollars wagered and tickets.

Will the Heisman runner-up go in Round 1? If he does, a lot of bettors will have some more walk-around money in their pockets.
