Charles Barkley Calls Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan’s Relationship ‘So Messy’

Charles Barkley has opinions on the state of Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan’s relationship.

The outspoken NBA on TNT personality — who has recently joked about everything from Subway’s tuna to Galveston’s “dirty water” —  is turning his attention to the former teammate of his former friend, Michael Jordan.

“I feel bad for Michael; I feel bad for Scottie,” Barkley, 61, said on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay about Pippen’s ex-wife and her on/off relationship with Jordan’s son. “That is so messy.”

Barkley continued, “I don’t like messy, because when it’s messy, everybody has an opinion on it. Everybody has an opinion and you know the Internet is not a place for messy.”

Barkley then shared that he recently stopped using social media “because I didn’t want to be around the meanness.”

After calling things off in February, Larsa and Marcus were seen holding hands in Miami Beach, Florida last month in photos obtained by PEOPLE.

A source close to the pair told PEOPLE that “they’re figuring things out” amid their breakup.

“There’s a lot of love there. That’s hard for either of them to just walk away from,” the insider added.

Pippen, 49, and Jordan, 33, first met in 2019 through mutual friends at a party in Los Angeles. Looking back on that moment, Pippen had told PEOPLE that they developed “a great foundation as friends” from that point onward.

On their podcast last year, Marcus was honest about his family’s response to him dating Scottie’s former spouse.

“I don’t think there was ever any hurdles, I just think there was some shock value to the fact that we were dating,” he said at the time. “Caught maybe some people on my side of the family off guard a little bit.”

A month later, Michael shared his feelings about their union when a TMZ photographer asked him if he approved of the relationship.

“No!” Jordan said at the time.

Despite Scottie and Michael’s success on the court, Barkley said on Club Shay Shay that the former Chicago Bulls teammates’ relationship will “never be the same” after the Larsa and Marcus’ involvement with one another.

“It’s just a sad situation, if you win a championship with guys, you probably have a special bond for life,” Barkley said. “If you win six … [you’re] brothers. Y’all should be damn near blood brothers.”
