Chris Paul’s first season with the Golden State Warriors came to an unceremonious conclusion when the team failed to make the playoffs.

In 2023-24 Paul averaged a career-low 9.3 points per game while dishing out 6.8 assists per game.

At this stage in his career, it is very debatable what sort of impact he could have.

That said, there is still interest in him out there.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the San Antonio Spurs are a team to watch if Paul opts to exit The Bay.

“A potential team to watch, should Paul and the Warriors part ways, is San Antonio,” he wrote.

“Among the early personnel rumbles in circulation: The Spurs could emerge as a Paul suitor if they decide to pursue some veteran know-how on a short-term contract basis to furnish presumptive Rookie of the Year winner Victor Wembanyama with more seasoned help in Year 2.”

Given the results of Gregg Popovich’s Jeremy Sochan at point guard experiment, this isn’t the most shocking of developments. It would definitely behoove Wembanyama to have some a veteran like Paul – though it is debatable if Paul himself is the right person.

Mind you, this is someone who has consistently fought with the other stars on his team.

If not the Spurs, the Los Angeles Clippers are also viewed as possible contenders for a reunion with Paul.

“The Clippers currently have +300 odds on Betonline,” ClutchPoints reported recently.

“Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers (+400), Philadelphia 76ers (+800), Milwaukee Bucks (+900) and Boston Celtics/Miami Heat (both at +1200) round out the top five odds leaders to sign Paul.”

One way or another, this figures to be a busy summer for Paul.

Where will the future Hall of Famer be playing come the start of the 2023-24 NBA season? Time will tell.
