Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner may be graduating from coparents to coworkers.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Garner is “in negotiations” to star alongside Matt Damon in her ex-husband’s next directorial project, Animals. The Netflix thriller follows a politician and his wife as they “get their hands dirty” to save their son from kidnappers. If Garner and Damon sign on, filming could commence in Los Angeles this March.

Though Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have starred in three films together, this would be their first collaboration since even before their 13-year marriage began in 2005. The former Hollywood power couple met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001 and went on to film two more projects together: Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005). The pair wed in June 2005 and share three children, Violet Anne, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel.

The exes first announced their split in June 2015, though they didn’t officially file for divorce until 2018. Since ending their marriage, both eventually moved on with new partners: Garner has reportedly dated tech CEO John Miller on and off since 2018, while Affleck married his long-lost love Jennifer Lopez in July 2022—20 years after their first engagement in 2002. Lopez shares two children, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

After some admitted post-divorce turbulence, Garner and Affleck appear to be coparenting extremely amicably, with Garner bringing step-siblings Seraphina and Emme on a trip to Disneyland in May 2023. “So happy to share these kids with you,” Affleck wrote in a Mother’s Day tribute to Garner back in 2021, per People. “Luckiest parents in the world. Thanks for all the good you do. Happy Mother’s Day. Love, their Dad.”

Clearly, mutual respect abounds, which could bode well for a future professional partnership. We’d love to see it.
