Yes Day Jennifer GarnerInstagram/Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner‘s selfie says it all: “Yes Day!” is exhausting. The actress recently posted a morning-after snap following her family’s annual “Yes Day!” Based on the children’s book of the same name, a “Yes Day!” is a magical 24 hours for kids, though it gets a bit crazy for parents.

This description of the book by late author Amy Krouse Rosenthal describes it perfectly:

“No matter how silly the request, there is one day a year when kids always receive a positive response: Can I have pizza for breakfast? YES! Can we have a food fight? YES! Can I stay up really late? YES!”

Garner wrote on Instagram it was the fifth year she participated in “Yes Day!” with her children, 11-year-old Violet, 8-year-old Seraphina and 5-year-old Samuel. (The kids’ dad is Ben Affleck.) It looks like her selfie may have been taken outside, where she also wrote that she had slept in a tent out in the backyard.

Whether they participate in “Yes Day!” or not, other moms could certainly relate to Garner’s exhaustion!

“There is nothing more real than a picture of a tired momma in yesterday’s smudged mascara [in] funny pj’s desperately wanting a cup of coffee,” Instagram user amyjowaychoff commented.

“Ha! I have a love/hate relationship with our #yesday tradition too,” karip8 commented. “Once a year for us but had an extra one this year in honor of @missamykr ‘s beautiful life.” The author of “Yes Day!” died of ovarian cancer in March 2017, just after publishing a moving piece in the New York Times called “You May Want To Marry My Husband.”

“We celebrate “YES” day in our home too because of that book!!!” posted Instagram user kimberlyannshafer. “We have for years. I can totally relate – it’s exhausting! I’m sooo happy when the day is done.”

So what would your “Yes Day!” look like? Garner said coffee is her “Yes Day!” and we tend to agree.
