Brock Purdy continues to be the blessing that goes on giving for the San Francisco 49ers. The last pick of the 2022 Draft class, Purdy heads into his third season as the starting QB of a rather complex offensive system. He is coming from an MVP-caliber year and a season in which he led his team to the Super Bowl. Despite losing the big game, he gave 49ers fans immense hope regarding the future.

To legendary QB Steve Young, Brock Purdy is just getting started. The former San Francisco 49ers QB shared his opinions of Purdy via Murphy and Markus show on KNBR while revealing that he has to make some minor tweaks to his game if he intends to become the best quarterback in the league.

Now, he's got the challenge of trying to figure out how to extend his game. He was last in the draft for a reason, it was the measurables, all the things that you could see. And so those are the things, he's not going to be able to throw it all over the field, he's not going to be able to run like crazy but he's got to be able to extend his game so that he can threaten in more places.

Steve Young believes Brock Purdy needs to go out there and make it happen in the championship games

To Young, while Purdy is already a good quarterback, in order for him to get to the next level, he will need to become an expert at one aspect, either throwing the ball deep or scrambling when the pocket begins to collapse. By taking one step further, he would add a layer of fear to the defense, and this will allow his receivers to open up lanes for themselves.

In the championship games, it's really about you going and making it happen.

Steve Young believes

The three-time Super Bowl winner does not see Mr.Irrelevant getting any better than he is at this moment, while that comment may sound bad, it is not the case.

I don't know if you can get significantly better...I guess there's other places to go but I think the consistency of who he is, is the upside. He's going to be consistently excellent and that's going to be the difference..."

Steve Young added

He reassured fans of the San Francisco 49ers that while there may be minor elements that one could pick in Purdy’s game where he can improve, in the bigger picture, as long as he can stay consistent, the team will be just fine!

For the first time in his career, Brock Purdy has an entire offseason to hone his skills. Last year, he spent most of his offseason recovering from elbow surgery, and despite that, he managed to put up MVP numbers.
