Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons arrived at the Met Gala with an interesting outfit – and the internet savagely roasted him for being a bit too on the nose.

Simmons arrived at this year’s spring gala, themed ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’.

Simmons donned a jacket and coat that had plaid stylings on the top, accented with rings, a watch, and a briefcase that had a massive clock on it.

Sports fans lit Simmons up for his style choice – especially after the Nets star only played 15 games this NBA season. He missed the first 38 games of the season, then played up until early March before being ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a nerve impingement in his lower back.

Social media caught onto the clock briefcase in particular, with many laughing at Simmons for missing too much time over the past few seasons.

‘Ben Simmons spent more time on the Met Gala red carpet than the court this year,’ wrote the official account for Barstool Sports.

The official account for third-party ticket vendor TickPick wrote, ‘Bag clocked in more than Ben this season.’

‘Wearing a clock when you ain’t clock no in game minutes this season is insane,’ wrote one Twitter user.

Another person wrote, ‘Getting paid 50 mil next year to just sit… Greatest heist in US history…’

‘Doesn’t appear for nba games but comes to the met gala,’ another user said.

A different user wrote, ‘Bro doin everything but playin basketball.’

Simmons notably sat out the entirety of the 2021-22 season in order to be traded out of Philadelphia, but when he arrived in Brooklyn, he was too injured to play.

Of the 196 games that Simmons has been a member of the Nets, he’s only played in 57 contests.
