The Jacksonville Jaguars selected LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr with the No. 17 pick in the draft.
After the pick, ESPN interviewed Thomas’s parents, Brian Sr. and Sondra.
Reporter Laura Rutledge asked Brian Sr. what to make of the memorable moment.
“It’s awesome. That’s all I can tell you. It’s awesome, it’s an awesome feeling,” he told Rutledge.
Then, Rutledge asked the NFL mom, “Sondra, how far has this family come?”
That caused Sondra to provide a literal answer to the question.
“We came from Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” she answered.
Rutledge quickly changed the subject after the awkward moment.
NFL fans, meanwhile, were in hysterics over Thomas’s mother’s answer.
“Rutledge knew what she asked, she just wanted to let them know,” one wrote.
“Something so wholesome about the response,” another commented.
“She ain’t lying,” a third stated.
The Jaguars originally had the No. 17 overall pick and traded down six spots to draft Thomas Jr.
The 6-foot-3, 209-pound speeder will enter a Jacksonville wide receiver group that will be without Calvin Ridley, who bolted to the division rival Tennessee Titans in free agency.

He also recorded 68 receptions for 1,177 yards.
Thomas Jr. caught passes from Jayden Daniels, who won the 2023 Heisman Trophy and was selected by the Washington Commanders with the No. 2 overall pick on Thursday night.
