Kim Kardashian stirred the pot by sharing an old photo with Karlie Kloss, Taylor Swift’s ex-best friend, after the release of The Tortured Poets Department.
Kim took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, April 23, to celebrate friend Derek Blasberg’s birthday with a throwback selfie that included Blasberg, sister Khloé Kardashian, W editor-in-chief Sara Moonves and, as fans immediately noticed, Kloss.
Swifties ran to social media, connecting the dots in mere milliseconds. In addition to Swift’s individual drama with Kim and, allegedly, Kloss — the Kardashians star infamously leaked a phone call between Kanye West and Swift, while the “Fortnight” singer was close friends with Kloss until, according to rampant theories, they had a falling out — some fans believe that Swift’s TTPD song “thanK you aIMee” is a diss track aimed at both Kim and Kloss.
“Kim Kardashian posting Karlie Kloss right now is truly f****** crazy oh my god,” one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Not kim posting a pic with karlie today that was taken TWO YEARS ago??? i smell drama,” another person tweeted.
A third user posted the photo of George W. Bush’s presidential aide telling him about 9/11. “Kim Kardashian has posted with Karlie Kloss,” they captioned the image.
“The thanK you aIMee get together 😭😭,” one fan called Kim’s throwback upload. ” Since when are they friends[?]”
Kim Kardashian attends the Balenciaga Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on March 03, 2024 in Paris, France. Kardashian raised eyebrows in April when sharing a photo with Taylor Swift’s ex-best…Another Swiftie tweeted: “Kim really said oh do you really wanna make people believe a song about karlie is about me? BET (this is an old picture so the message is pretty clear).”
“Kim Kardashian sharing a two-year-old photo of her and Karlie Kloss to her story four days after Taylor Swift dropped a song about her is SOOOOO rich,” another X user wrote. “We are SOOOOOO back.”
Another fan directly referenced the Skims founder’s alleged reaction to “thanK you aIMee,” when a source told People that Kim is “over it and thinks Taylor should move on.”
The user sarcastically tweeted: “Kim, who posted an old picture with karlie on her instagram story today, is definitely ‘over it’ and ‘moved on.'”
Many fans believe that “thanK you aIMee” is about Kim for multiple reasons — the most obvious being that her name is in all-caps in the song title. (There are many lyrics that seem to reference her drama with the reality star, including: “And it wasn’t a fair fight / Or a clean kill each time that Aimee stompеd across my grave / And then she wrotе headlines / In the local paper, laughing at each baby step I’d take,” as well as the chorus: “All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed, “F*** you, Aimee” to the night sky as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”)
But fans have also theorized on TikTok and other social outlets that it may refer to Kloss — and Kim is just a red herring. The line “And so I changed your name and any real defining clues” in particular points out that Swift could be purposely misleading in the song title, while others have analyzed that the rest of the lyric — “And one day your kid comes home singin’ / A song that only us two knows about you” — is not about Kim and West’s eldest daughter, North, but one of Kloss’ sons.
Swift, Kardashian and Kloss have yet to publicly react to any of the theories.
