The superstar shared the story behind the dress she’d been saving for her nuptials – and confirmed it wasn’t from ‘Jersey Girl’

Jennifer Lopez is setting the record straight about one of the dresses she wore during her July 2022 Las Vegas wedding to Ben Affleck.

The multi-hyphenate had fans buzzing about the dress after she wrote in her On the JLo newsletter that she got married in a “dress from an old movie.”

In a video interview with Variety posted on Tuesday, Lopez told fans that it wasn’t the same wedding dress she wore in 2004’s Jersey Girl, as some had speculated, or any of her previous films.

“No, that’s not true,” the 54-year-old told the outlet. “I wish it was. I wish I did have that dress. I don’t have that dress. No, this was a different dress that I had.”

Lopez explained that she had different wedding dresses at home after working on Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding.

“Believe it or not, I was doing so much press for Marry Me or Shotgun Wedding or one of those, so I had all these wedding dresses in my house. And when we, at the spur of the moment, decided to get married that day, I just had a dress,” she said. “It’s not from a movie. I never wore it in a movie.”

Last month, a source told PEOPLE that Affleck is “proud” of his wife amid her upcoming ninth album release on Friday.

“It’s been the perfect time to focus on a new album. She’s loved creating new music. She’s very excited [about] it. Ben’s proud of her. He’s her biggest fan. He loves how hard working and focused she is,” the source told PEOPLE.

The couple stepped out Tuesday evening for the Los Angeles premiere of This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, which Lopez said was spurred by her real-life love story with Affleck, 51.

“I was like, ‘I don’t write, I don’t do this.’ He was like, ‘You do, you write, you direct, you produce, you choreograph, you do all the things. Start stepping into that, start owning a little bit of who you are,’” she recalled her husband telling her.

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story arrives on Prime Video on Feb. 16.
