Ryan Tannehill found a lifelong teammate off the field in his wife, Lauren Tannehill.
The pair attended the same university but did not cross paths until a spring break trip in 2009. They tied the knot in 2012, the same year Ryan signed with the Miami Dolphins, where the quarterback played until he was traded to the Tennessee Titans in 2019.
“We started our marriage, laid our roots, built an amazing community and had our babies there,” Lauren once wrote on Instagram in honor of their years in Florida. “We got a boat, learned to dive and tore up the ocean together. We made incredible memories with friends we’ll have for the rest of our lives.”
She added, “With Gods blessing we were able to make some of our dreams come true, and leaned on our faith and each other through it all.”
In addition to going through 12 football seasons together, they are parents to two children: son Steel Ryan and daughter Stella Rose.

Though Ryan and Lauren both attended Texas A&M University, they didn’t meet until they were both on a spring break trip to Panama City, Florida, in 2009. When Lauren first met the Texas native, she didn’t realize he was on the football team.
“I didn’t know for a good couple of days until they were all playing football in the yard, and I was like, ‘You’re really good,’ ” she told CBS News Miami. “And that’s when I kind of put that together.”

In January 2012, Ryan and Lauren tied the knot in Mexico in front of family and friends.
Just three months later, he was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft as the eighth overall pick. But the new quarterback’s wife was also getting a bit of attention herself on draft day.
According to Yahoo Sports, there were over 800 tweets about Lauren within 10 minutes of Ryan being selected.
“It was crazy, it was nice to have people be complimentary of you and I’m very used to that being all about Ryan and I’m used to that. It’s good. I’m good with that. I was surprised, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ It was fun,” Lauren told CBS News Miami of the unexpected attention.
“I was secretly crossing my fingers. I love Florida,” she shared of Ryan being signed to the Dolphins. “I love the weather, and it gives me the opportunity here with modeling, too.”

Lauren has previously worked as a model, dating back to her days in college. Her first modeling gig was doing bridal work, but she has also posed for jewelry brands and more.
Lauren signed with Page.713 Model & Talent Agency in 2008. In a 2014 profile for Sun Sentinel, Erik Bechtol, a manager with the agency, described her as a “natural” at her profession.
“You might be fantastic to look at, but if you’re not beautiful on the inside, you’re not going to get very far, and she’s both, so she’s kind of a natural at it,” he said.
Bechtol added, “She’s very sweet, humble and just a joy to work with. She’s just an all-around-sweet Texas girl.”
She is a mom of two

Lauren then shared they were expanding their family once again in May 2018, and daughter Stella Rose was born on Sept. 28.
“Girl, you’ve changed my world! I love you more then I thought possible Stella Rose,” the mom of two shared on Instagram while celebrating her daughter’s first birthday. “You’re sweet and spicy and I can not wait to watch you grow! @rtannehill17#Happy1stBirthday.”

The 2021-2022 football season marked Ryan’s tenth season in the NFL, which Lauren took the time to celebrate on Instagram with a sweet post in his honor.
“YEAR 10🤩 my words will never articulate the gratitude I feel about where we are, and the road that lead us here and all the grit, tears, sweat, injuries, love, laughter and joy in between,” she shared. “TITAN UP BB! ⚔️So proud of you babe! 🤍.”

The community of other women in her same position have supported Lauren through so many seasons in the NFL, especially during her family’s move from Florida to Tennessee.
“There’s nothing like the community of women around you in the league, period. We all just kinda understand each other, and there’s parts of our lives that only we understand,” she shared with the Titans in a video. “I think that’s important for everybody in the world to have that, you know to lean on each other.”
She added, “I’m super thankful for our community in Florida, our community here, and I feel like it’s really exciting that if we hadn’t come here I wouldn’t have this new community.”
