‘Witty’ Jimmy Kimmel refers to Travis Kelce as Taylor Swift’s ‘broke boyfriend’ after $34 million contract extension with the Chiefs

Jimmy Kimmel‘s job as a comedian is to make fun of people, and Aaron Rodgers found the hard way. However, interestingly, Kimmel’s next NFL target was Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The 34-year-old All-Pro player bagged a massive 2-year, $34 million contract extension. However, the amount isn’t sufficient in Kimmel’s eyes. During the April 30 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, he took a dig at Kelce, comparing him to his pop icon girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Congratulations to Travis Kelce. He signed a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs [and] is now the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

Yet, according to Kimmel, Kelce’s salary gets overshadowed by Swift’s popularity, and several of her shows affect the country’s economy.

Can you imagine being in a relationship where you make $34 million and you’re still the broke boyfriend?

Kimmel added.

The Jimmy Kimmel onslaught on Travis Kelce continued

After trolling Kelce’s income, Kimmel turned his gaze toward the swifties. He pointed out that those who follow the nine-time Pro Bowler don’t remember that he is a football player first and then someone’s boyfriend, even if that person is a 14-time Grammy winner.

Another weird thing about dating Taylor Swift is that you can be one of the greatest players of all time, and this is the reaction you get to your contract extension.

Kimmel said while asking his producer to show tweets and comments from the Swifties.

A screenshot of a chat on social media popped up on the large screen behind Kimmel on the set.

"His eyes are full of tears [crying emoji] this baby." The screenshot reads
He’s so babygirl. pookiest pookie," Then he shuffled to another one, which read
"I’m not sure if he’s a football player or a kitten," Kimmel could not contain his excitement as he retorted.

The chat reads

Satire should always be taken with a pinch of salt. But when it comes to defending Taylor, Swifties don’t back out. They have yet to comment on Kimmel’s take on Travis Kelce, but anything can happen in the future.

Anyway, Kimmel is correct about the salary gap between the celebrity couple. Last year, Forbes added the ‘Fortnight’ singer to their billionaire list. Swift has an estimated worth of $1.1 billion.

In contrast, Kelce’s career earnings from playing in the NFL are roughly around $108. million, which would rise to $142.8 million in 2027 per over the cap. However, it neither included the $20 million Pfizer paid him to appear in the commercial nor all the other endorsement deals he has signed over the years.
