In a recent podcast interview, the Los Angeles Clippers swingman Paul George talked candidly about his time there. Although George said that at first he was relieved to be back in the city, city supporters bitterly opposed him for not being a Laker.

Paul George Gives Brutally Honest Take On His Time With The Los Angeles Clippers

According to reports, Paul George’s ‘outlandish’ salary demands caused him to leave the Clippers. After five seasons with the organization, the Clippers made significant sacrifices to have him return to Europe in 2019. But from the beginning, facing the Clippers was difficult since they were their city’s “secondary” team.

PG said, “I think initially, coming back to LA that was home. But it’s not the same love. Because when I was in LA, they said, ‘You should’ve been a Laker.’ It wasn’t no ‘Welcome to the Clippers!’ ‘We happy you in [Los Angeles] but you should have been a Laker!’ That’s all I was hearing… I’m on the B Team. That’s how the vibe and the love felt.”

After being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, George became well-known while playing for the Indiana Pacers, helping them win multiple years. Paul eventually made it back home to Los Angeles, following a spell with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 34-year-old forward was thrilled to return to his hometown and showcase his Californian heritage. He was born in Palmdale. Regretfully for the nine-time All-Star, the Lakers’ legacy is deeply ingrained in the community. Moreover, they hesitated to accept a prominent figure, a Clippers player.

Paul George Defines His Role In the 76ers’ Future

Paul George, a nine-time All-Star and 14-year veteran, has spent most of his career as the best player. But now that he’s 34 and without a ring, George will need to choose a new job if he wants to continue in this field.

Paul is anticipated to be the 76ers’ third option behind Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. He specifically wants to assist the team in late-game scenarios to relieve the two stars of some of the load.

George has accepted a new chapter as a co-star alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey following his failure with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. If he continues to live up to his reputation as one of the finest wing players in the league, he may still achieve fame and money with the 76ers, even though they do not provide the same benefits as the Lakers.

Given the odds against him, there is little hope that Paul George can succeed with the 76ers. However, he must adjust to preserve his legacy and atone for his transgressions in Los Angeles.
