Taylor Swift’s high-profile romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has forced some fans in the Bay Area to reconsider their loyalty to the pop star as her boyfriend’s team gears up to face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Among those reevaluating their allegiance is Lisa McCaffrey, mother of 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and a self-proclaimed Swiftie. She announced her boycott of Swift in anticipation of the big game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11.

In the latest episode of the podcast, “Your Mom,” McCaffrey declared, “She’s dead to us.”

But she noted that the ban is temporary, lasting only through the 49ers-Chiefs matchup.

“I refuse to listen to Taylor Swift songs for the next couple days,” McCaffrey said. “I love her. I love the relationship (between Swift and Kelce). But we are boycotting any T. Swift songs.”

Lisa McCaffrey, shown with husband Ed in their Colorado home in 2016, says she’s a Taylor Swift fan but will boycott her music, at least until the Super Bowl is over. Her son Christian’s team, the 49ers, faces the Chiefs of Swift’s partner, tight end Travis Kelce, in Sunday’s NFL championship game.

Earlier in the week, model and actress Olivia Culpo surprised her fiance’s mom with a suite at the Super Bowl. The gesture came after Lisa McCaffrey publicly complained that she could not afford one, citing the exorbitant prices.

“We looked into a suite, and none of us can afford it, not even Christian — moneybags over there — nor moneybags Olivia,” she said in the podcast. “So we are not in a suite, I’ll tell you that right now.”

Christian McCaffrey, who signed a four-year, $64 million deal with the 49ers in 2020, is set to earn $11.8 million and $12 million for the next two seasons, respectively.

But even with that payday,  Lisa McCaffrey said, “They’re outrageously expensive. They’re stupid expensive. I don’t know if it’s the Taylor Swift factor, if it’s the first time in Vegas factor, there’s so much going on.”

Culpo, who got engaged to Christian McCaffrey in April, replied hours later in a post to her 5.4 million Instagram followers that read, “Fake news! Happy birthday Lisa I bought you a suite.”
