On Saturday, news broke of 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall being shot in the chest after an attempted robbery for his Rolex. Everyone waited in fear for an update on his condition and whether or not it was life-threatening.

Now, on Sunday, the 49ers released an update stating that Pearsall has been released from the hospital and will continue to recover from the injury.

“San Franciso 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was released from the hospital this afternoon as he continues to recover from a bullet wound to his chest,” the statement said. “He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital.”

Luckily, this was likely the best-case scenario for the whole situation. Especially considering how lethal a bullet wound to the chest could be.

During the altercation, the robber revealed he had a gun as he was trying to steal the Rolex Pearsall had. There was a grapple from both for the gun, which ended up getting both of them shot.

The Bullet Went Throgh Ricky Pearsall’s Chest And Out His Back

Soon after Pearsall was taken to the hospital, his mother shared an extremely shocking update about the true nature of the injury. She claimed that the bullets went through his chest and exited his back.

“He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back,” she wrote. “Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now. Life is so precious my friends. Please love each other. My son was spared today by the grade of GOD. Please pray for my baby.”

Not only is Pearsall lucky not to have sustained a major life-changing injury, but he’s lucky to still be alive.
