This past offseason, there were many rumors that Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was looking for a new contract extension. However, with Dallas set to take on the Browns on Sunday for Week 1, Prescott is still playing on the same four-year $160 million deal he signed back in 2021.
Now, though, he’s playing in the final year of that deal and will become a free agent once the Cowboys’ season concludes. It’s starting to seem like he will be testing the open market, where quarterbacks are a luxury.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report made a list of teams that would be the biggest suitors for Prescott. The Las Vegas Raiders were the No. 1 team on the List.
“Las Vegas is already projected to have $70.8 million in cap space next offseason, which could be a big deciding factor for Prescott,” Knox wrote. “Given the unbalanced supply and demand of the quarterback market, Prescott is poised to become the highest-paid player in league history.”
“The Raiders could afford to offer Prescott a market-topping contract—Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, and Jordan Love each have deals worth $55 million annually,” he continued. “They could also give Prescott an opportunity to play with talented pass-catchers like Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers.”
Of course, if that did happen, it would be a major upgrade for the Raiders, who will go into the season with Gardner Minshew and Aiden O’Connell as the top two quarterbacks on the roster.
Dak Prescott Could Seek $70 Million A Year
Being a quarterback in the NFL might be one of the most lucrative positions in all of sports.
Their market inflates yearly, and there is no end in sight. Prescott is now the latest QB looking to take advantage of that.
Reports have revealed that Dak is no longer interested in making $60 million a year but rather $70 million.
