Michael Jackson’s family has faced significant turmoil and legal disputes since his death in 2009.
His children, Paris, Prince, and Bigi (formerly known as Blanket), have mostly maintained private lives, with Paris and Prince making occasional public appearances.
However, the youngest, Bigi, stayed largely out of the spotlight until a recent legal dispute with his grandmother, Katherine Jackson.
The conflict arose when Katherine, who has long been a matriarch of the Jackson family and guardian to Michael’s children, found herself in a bitter court feud with Bigi over the handling of Michael Jackson’s estate.
The estate’s executors decided to sell part of Michael’s music catalog to Sony for $600 million, which led to disagreements within the family.
While Katherine, along with other family members, opposed the sale, Bigi surprisingly sided with the estate’s executors, expressing concern over the long-term financial health of the estate and objecting to covering Katherine’s mounting legal bills.
Katherine, on the other hand, argued that her legal expenses were necessary to protect the family’s interests and preserve Michael’s legacy. She claimed that the estate, with its vast resources, should cover these costs.
The dispute led to a tense standoff between Bigi and Katherine, highlighting the deep-seated issues within the Jackson family.
This conflict is just one of many that have plagued the Jackson family since Michael’s death. The initial reading of his will revealed that his entire fortune was left to Katherine and his three children, with his siblings and father notably excluded.
This exclusion led to further disputes among Michael’s siblings, who felt betrayed and questioned the validity of the will. Despite their efforts to contest the will, it remained intact, leaving the family divided.
The legal battles and public disputes have strained relationships within the Jackson family, with each sibling reacting differently. While some, like Randy and Janet, have been vocal in their criticism of the estate’s executors, others, like Tito, have tried to mediate and maintain family unity.
The ongoing conflicts have left lasting scars on the family, altering their dynamics and public image.
